Now that Dr. I. King Jordan has officially announced his retirement as president of Gallaudet University, the search process for a successor is underway. Tayler Infomedia has launched a new Weblog, Gally President Watch, to keep tabs on the finalists and what bloggers think of them. The blog was launched in mid-April. Judging from the numerous links that have sprouted up, it’s a popular site.
The blog’s four leading candidates are: GU Provost Jane Fernandes, NMSD Superintendent Ron Stern, GU Associate Professor Steve Weiner, and Koko. That’s Koko, as in the world-famous signing gorilla. Visitors can click on each candidate’s image to see a sardonic editorial comment on their qualifications and potential, and scroll down to browse through the bloggers’ uncensored commentsa lively dialogue. Some bloggers are not entirely comfortable with the prospect of having Koko as the next Gally president because she isn’t deaf. Oh, well . . . you can’t please everyone!
